I Was There: Aboard Norwegian Luna's Inaugural Christening Cruise, March 27–30, 2026

NCL's stunning new flagship just made her grand debut and let me tell you, she did not disappoint.

I have been on a lot of ships. I have attended a lot of sailings. But I can tell you with full honesty that stepping aboard Norwegian Luna for her inaugural christening cruise was something entirely different. From the moment you walk through those doors, she wraps you in a warmth and a welcome that is hard to put into words, but I am going to try.

The christening ceremony took place on March 27, 2026 at PortMiami, where NCL officially welcomed Luna into the fleet. The ship's godmother, renowned New York street artist ELLE, created the stunning hull artwork a vivid dreamscape called "La Luna," inspired by humanity's enduring connection to the moon. It was a beautiful moment, and one I feel so lucky to have witnessed in person.

"It's not just a cruise ship she is a world-class resort at sea."  Marc Kazlauskas, President of Norwegian Cruise Line

He was not wrong. Here's a closer look at everything that made Norwegian Luna's inaugural sailing so special.

The ship herself Class: Prima Plus a sister to Norwegian Aqua

Size 1,056 ft · 156,300 gross tons
Capacity 3,565 guests (double occupancy)
Dining 17 dining options · 18 bars & lounges

She is modern without feeling cold, spacious without feeling overwhelming, and beautifully designed from bow to stern. Every common space feels intentional — like a chic hotel at sea rather than a cookie-cutter cruise ship. The atrium alone will stop you in your tracks.

Dining: complimentary and specialty
One of the things I love about Norwegian Luna is that there truly is something for everyone when it comes to food. Whether you want to keep things casual and complimentary or treat yourself to a specialty dinner, you will never run out of delicious options.

Complimentary dining highlights
Hudson's and the Commodore Room are your main dining rooms, and the fan-favorite Indulge Food Hall lets you wander through globally inspired stations — from barbecue and Indian to noodles and plant-based at the new Planterie. No reservations, no pressure, just great food.

Specialty restaurants
Sukhothai for vibrant Thai cuisine · Onda by Scarpetta for authentic Italian · Le Bistro for elegant French fare · Cagney's for a classic American steakhouse experience. Each one is a destination in itself.

The Vibe Beach Club — adults only and absolutely worth it
If you are looking for a little peace and quiet away from the excitement of the main pool deck, the Vibe Beach Club is your sanctuary. This adults-only retreat is one of the best features on the ship and honestly, once you find your spot there, you may not want to leave.

Two hot tubs Pool with ample deck chairs Full bar & cocktails Adults only Cabanas available
The vibe pun absolutely intended is relaxed, elevated, and exactly what you need after a full day of port adventures or a late night of entertainment. Grab a cocktail, sink into a deck chair, and let the sea do its thing.

Entertainment: the shows are something else
I want to be clear about something: the entertainment on Norwegian Luna is not background noise. These are full-on, world-class productions that you should absolutely plan your evenings around. Here is what stood out most:

Elton: A Celebration of Elton John Must see

An absolute showstopper. This concert-style production honoring the legendary Sir Elton John is pure magic from start to finish. I was blown away. Do not miss this one.

Syd Norman's: A Tribute to the Eagles Must see
Syd Norman's Pour House is legendary across the NCL fleet, and the Eagles tribute on Luna is outstanding. The vocals, the energy, the crowd all of it is spot on.

HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder
Different and fascinating. This multimedia production blends cirque-style acrobatics, contemporary dance, and stunning visuals into something you have genuinely never seen before on a ship.

Game shows, comedy & theme nights
The interactive game shows are hilarious, the comedy acts are genuinely funny, and the themed parties are a blast the 90's party had everyone on the dance floor all night long.

Activities & fun: there is no excuse to be bored
Whether you are 8 or 80, Norwegian Luna has thought of you. The top decks are packed with things to do, from adrenaline-pumping thrills to laid-back lawn games. Here is just a taste of what is waiting:

Aqua Slidecoaster, Slides & The Drop, Putt putt golf, Glow Ball Court, Pickleball, Moon Climber obstacle course, Luna Midway, arcade games, Luna Game Zone
The Aqua Slidecoaster is a hybrid between a waterslide and a roller coaster is unlike anything else at sea and was just awarded Best New Water Park Ride/Attraction at the IAAPA Expo.

The Glow Court is a high-tech LED sports court that transforms into a nightclub after dark. And the putt putt course is genuinely fun for all ages, I may have played twice.

Being on the inaugural christening cruise for Norwegian Luna was truly a privilege. She is a spectacular ship she is warm, welcoming, exciting, and full of surprises around every corner. Whether you are a first-time cruiser or a seasoned sailor, she has something to offer you that you have never experienced before.

I cannot wait to share her with my clients. If Norwegian Luna is on your radar, and it should be, let's talk.
